About .dev domains
If you write code, .dev is the extension that says so. It is run by Google Registry and is popular with software engineers, open-source maintainers and developer-focused companies for portfolios, blogs, documentation and tools.
Like .app, every .dev domain is on the HSTS preload list, so browsers will only open .dev sites over HTTPS. That is good for security but catches people out: without an SSL certificate the site will not load, even for a quick test. Use the free SSL included with our hosting, or a certificate on your own server. For Indian developers, a yourname.dev address is short and memorable on GitHub, LinkedIn and a resume, and it stands out during placement season and job applications.
